When it comes to pumpkins, the Vaz+Harwood Family’s annual Fall tradition is to visit Farmer Tom. You see, we love Halloween in a big way. And carving pumpkins is a big deal. But it all starts with getting just the right size and type of pumpkins.
8 years ago, quite by accident while we were out on a drive in Lindstrom, we saw a scarecrow holding a sign ‘FARMER TOM’S PUMPKINS.’ Curiosity literally drove us there and boy, were we in for a treat.
Farmer Tom and his wife, Theresa, own a large tract of land that they have dedicated solely to growing pumpkins. The pumpkins are of all sizes and shapes. We love to run and explore and take our time finding at least 5 pumpkins that are just right for us. There is also a corn maze if you love mazes.
We all love Farmer Tom. He is so welcoming and kind. I love that he grows heirloom pumpkin varieties for eating. My favorite is Red October. I hope you enjoy our Pumpkin Halwa recipe for this month.
